Hatcheries in Queensland have a very diverse range of fish that they produce. Stretching out to the Lake Eyre system, the upper Murray Darling and to coastal systems right up the coast to tropical areas.

Hatcheries produce a wide range and multiple varieties of fish for Aquaculture. These include species such as Barramundi, Silver Perch, Murray Cod, Jade Perch and Sleepy Cod among so many others.

Along with Aquaculture species, Queensland Hatcheries do a lot of restocking of dams, weirs, rivers and waterways, assisted greatly by 63 dams and weirs being part of the Stocked Impoundment Scheme (SIPS).
