Presenter

Mr. K. B. Haw of AquaCultural F.A.M.E. Singapore

Has been involved in keeping, conditioning, and exporting live fish throughout the world since 1965.

He has participated in the design and construction of commercial display aquariums and aquaculture facilities

in Singapore and internationally through his involvement with Aquaworks & Engineering Company of Singapore. K. B’s current main interests are in developing osmorogulatory class conditioning salts and plant extracts to minimize or eliminate stress in fish.

THE PRESENTATION

A Synopsis / Abstract on: Water Conditioners for Vertebrates Aquaculture

(Freshwater And Marine water Exploratory)

In the early ‘70s, struggling to keep coastal-harvested fry alive long enough to sell off to equally struggling grow-out farms. It didn’t take long to realize that lots of dead and dying fry sold at meagre profits wouldn’t put food on the table. Those few salty reeking tanks were then refitted and filled with higher value freshwater ornamental fish types. Flipping out of the frying pan into the fire was the only thing achieved. Now a very well chastened and wide-eyed novice goes wandering around muddy streams, ponds and dowdy fish farms in the tropics, with only a nagging curiosity and last ditched dime for investment.

How on Earth, these ever-grinning natives be selling me Live & Healthy-enough-for-traveling fish?

Those impossibly fragile Rasbora species, in fact all species are fragile to a desperate novice, be wild-harvested, wildly handled and then be obviously stocked, ALIVE!

I was amazed to learn from this bare-footed islander that you can herbally-condition fish to be very much livelier if they do not “panic” when they find themselves COATED with parasites such as Ich or white spots disease … that was so cool !!!

Later through the years, I discovered more and more “cool-Natives” all over tropical + temperate_Asia … using garlic, onion, radish, ginger, citrus, ginseng, willow, clove, melaleuca spp, coffee and even weirder  materials …. and they all mysteriously worked for one reason or other !!!

Radish & Clove were most interesting !

Moral Of Story: Whatever can minimise or eliminate Stress Induced Toxins … Can Minimise Fish Losses !

The rediscovery of conditioning Nature to POSTPONE its ill-nature.

Conditioning Protocol Components

Osmoregulatory-class salts, conditioning salts, stabilized plant extracts and adjuvantic-saponins.

1.0) Ensuring aquatic livestock products meeting International Human Food Safety Requirements:

1.1) Avoiding Preventions & Treatments with Antibiotics

1.2) Avoiding Preventions & Treatments with Carcinogenic Agents

1.3) Avoiding Preventions & Treatments with Obnoxious or Fumous Agents

2.0) Ensuring aquatic livestock production meeting High Yield through all stages:

       2.1) High Immuno-Competency against internal/external Viral Infections

       2.2) High Immuno-Competency against internal/external Bacterial Infections

       2.3) High Immuno-Competency against internal/external Parasitic Infections

3.0) Ensuring aquatic livestock production meeting High Quality & Aesthetics through all stages:

3.1) Schooling Tendencies should be apparent for stages at prematurity

3.2) Hunting Tendencies should be apparent for all stages

3.3) Mating Tendencies & Distinct, Brighter Colorations should be apparent

on maturing livestock at mating seasons

4.0) Detoxifying aquatic livestock tissues with Water Conditioner potentially lab-proven:

4.1) Detoxified livestock tend to survive better and grow faster.

4.2) Detoxified livestock can be certified and should command premium pricing.

4.3) Livestock bred and raised in polluted water should be detoxified before harvests
